FAQ Answers

Q:  What is CARE?
A:  CARE is an acronym for 'Construction Achievements and Renovations of
Excellence'. Developed by the Canadian Home Builders Association, the
awards go to the very best projects incorporating specific criteria
including unique design, function, creative use of space, compatibility
with the environment, energy efficiency, effective land use, and cost.
Q:  How Do I choose the right Contractor?
A:  Choosing the right contractor can be a daunting task, however, here are some tips to keep in mind to help protect yourself, and make the job easier.

1. Do Your Homework

Good contractors always have satisfied customers. Ask for references and make the necessary phone calls. Try to view some of their previous projects. Do not hire a contractor if they can not give you references.

2. Phone the Better Business Bureau.

3. Ensure the contractor is registered and in good standing with the WCB, and carries a liability insurance policy. Is your contractor a member of the Canadian Home Builders Association?

4. Get It In Writing!

Do not accept anything that is not in writing. Professional contractors always work with a proper written contract.
